Cloudflare surpasses 10 million developers as AI Agent adoption accelerates

JAKARTA (IndoTelko) - Cloudflare has announced that more than 10 million developers are now building on its platform, up from 7.4 million in the previous quarter. The growth comes amid rising demand for infrastructure to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-powered applications and agentic technologies.

The global connectivity company said its ecosystem has expanded beyond Workers, its serverless computing platform that initially served as the foundation for application development.

Today, Cloudflare offers a broader platform covering computing, data storage, databases, AI, media, real-time services, observability, and developer workflows.

Cloudflare VP of Product Management Rita Kozlov said the Workers platform, developed nearly a decade ago, was designed around efficiency, speed, and global scalability.

She noted that these capabilities are becoming increasingly important as developers use AI to write code, build applications, and automate more stages of the software development lifecycle.

Cloudflare aims to provide developers with a unified platform to build, deploy, secure, monitor, and scale applications globally.

AI Agent Traffic Surges

Cloudflare reported that daily requests from AI agents across its network increased by more than 1,700% over the past year. The company also stated that, for the first time this year, more than half of internet traffic did not originate from human activity.

This shift is driving demand for applications capable of supporting continuous interactions among people, applications, APIs, and AI agents.

To support AI-native application development, Cloudflare offers several services, including Workers AI, Workers KV, AI Gateway, Durable Objects, D1, and R2.

Cloudflare Workers uses an architecture based on isolates rather than traditional virtual machines or containers. This approach is designed to accelerate application deployment while enabling efficient scaling across Cloudflare’s global network.

Cloudflare Chief Technology Officer Dane Knecht said the company’s global network infrastructure provides developers with a foundation for building applications that require speed, scalability, and security.

Global Network Spans More Than 340 Cities

Cloudflare said its global network now spans more than 340 cities across more than 130 countries. The network connects to 13,888 networks and has 590 Tbps of external network capacity.

This infrastructure enables applications to run closer to users while supporting the performance of application and AI traffic across different regions.

Cloudflare expects infrastructure requirements to continue evolving as applications become more distributed and AI traffic increases in volume and complexity. The growing use of AI agents to perform tasks on behalf of individuals and businesses also requires cloud platforms to deliver stronger performance, resilience, and observability.

Through its developer ecosystem and global network, Cloudflare aims to provide the infrastructure needed to build the next generation of applications for both people and AI agents. (mas)
