SURGE & FiberHome Launch World's First 5G FWA on 1.4 GHz

This strategic collaboration will accelerate the deployment of SURGE’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services utilizing the 1.4 GHz spectrum in Indonesia, branded as IRA Internet Rakyat. As the world’s first commercial implementation of this innovative technology, the initiative further underscores Indonesia’s position as a pioneer in the global broadband innovation landscape.

This partnership represents a significant milestone in SURGE’s core mission to deliver affordable, reliable, and high-quality broadband connectivity to millions of households across Indonesia. Under the terms of the cooperation agreement, FiberHome will provide a comprehensive portfolio of FWA products specifically developed and optimized for maximum performance on the 1.4 GHz spectrum. These products will serve as the backbone of SURGE’s 5G FWA network, ensuring efficient and stable network operations. The initial phase of deployment will prioritize Java Island, as the most densely populated region with high connectivity demand, as well as Maluku and Papua, which continue to face significant gaps in digital infrastructure.

By leveraging FiberHome’s advanced radio technologies—recognized for their wide coverage, high energy efficiency, and strong adaptability in high-density user environments—SURGE will accelerate the expansion of its broadband service footprint. As part of the execution phase, FiberHome and SURGE have completed the installation and on-air operation of several sites in Java for pre-commercial trials.

This collaboration will support the planned commercial launch of SURGE’s 5G FWA services in the first quarter of 2026. The service will offer internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps with unlimited data quotas at an affordable monthly tariff of IDR 100,000. This competitive pricing scheme is expected to significantly enhance the accessibility of fixed broadband services in Indonesia, enabling more households to actively participate in the digital ecosystem in the 5G era.
