JAKARTA (IndoTelko) - The Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is seriously want to bring eCommerce to the US $ 1 billion valuation in Indonesia in the next five years.

"We want to have at around three Unicorn (valuation of US $ 1 billion) category eCommerces in 2020. We are optimistic that this can happen, of course, with the support of various parties, both actors in the country, as well as international actors to encourage the creation of a generation of young entrepreneurs in the field of technology started early," said Minister Rudiantara in a statement on Friday (30/10).

In order to realize that ambition, Rudiantara on October 29, 2015 have signed 500 Startups Accelerator locations to witness the signing of the investment from the Venture Capital Richmond Global, and heard the presentation of the 500 Startups and Fenox.

Richmond Global, with co-investor Gobi Venture, led an investment of US $ 8 million in a Food Discovery Indonesia company, Qraved.

500 Startups has invested more than US $ 2 million in 12 companies in Indonesia such as: Hijub, Tees, Zeemi.tv, Alo Doctor, Kudo, Fabelio, and YesBoss.

Besides, Fenox also invests in Hijub and Alo Doctor, also been investing in Bridestory and many other investments.

"I wanted to develop 100 qualified startup technologies in 2020 through a series of seminars, workshops, hackathon, as well as incubation and acceleration programs," said the minister.

The minister's visit to the heart of global digital business in Silicon Valley can not be separated from the role of KIBAR Chief Executive, Yansen Kamto.

A total of seven US incubator and accelerator companies such as Plug and Play, TechStars, Founder Institute, 500 Startups, GSVlabs, startx, and F50 are presented for the minister.

The Indonesian delegation in the meeting was filed three coaching programs to the US startup incubators, that is the startup exchange programs with the local startup that are located in Silicon Valley; network mentor, a program of capacity building and the quality of local mentor; as well as the development of modules and curriculum for coaching standardized startup.

The meeting was also attended by some of the Indonesian technology startups figures namely Sanny Gaddafi of 8villages.com, Teguh Wahyono and Ery Punta from Telkom Indigo, Italo Gani of Adskom, Heriyadi Janwar of Bhinneka.com, and Donald Wihardja of Convergence Ventures.

Some incubators who participated in the meeting are GSVlabs, Plug and Play and TechStars who expressed their interest to come and invest in Indonesia, while jointly develop a startup ecosystem.

500 Startups who already has portfolio of investments in Indonesia, also expressed its commitment to contribute more to develop these startups.

"The incubator is interested with Indonesian technology industry landscape. We offered such cooperation to send a local mentor to Silicon Valley to learn and they will teach after their return to Indonesia. Ecosystem here is already more advanced and they've got a curriculum that can be utilized in accordance with the needs," said Yansen.(id)
