Telin Malaysia will Change its MVNO Partner

JAKARTA (IndoTelko) - Telkom International (Sdn Bhd), Telin Malaysia admit to replace its network partners in holding the Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) services in Malaysia to be more competitive in serving its customers,

"We are now preparing for the migration to the new Mobile Network Operator (MNO). We are now profiling and cleansing the data. Our initial plan is to migrate the loyal and productive customers first," said Telin Malaysia CEO Oki Wiranto to IndoTelko, yesterday.

As known, Telin Malaysia was introduced to the public in August 2013 and began to commercialize its MVNO service with the 2 in 1 US Card in November 2013.

Telkom as a holding company reportedly will invest approximately US $ 10 million to support Telin Malaysia business with its new partner, Maxis, as a network provider.

Telin Malaysia is one of Telkom's international expansion storefronts programs that implement the "follow the people" business strategy. Given the presence of the Indonesian community in Malaysia is the largest overseas who is not less than 3 million Indonesian citizens living there.

Telin Malaysia's Performance during 2014 only gained Rp8 billion of revenue with a loss recorded at about USD 41 billion.

Oki revealed that according to the plan for Telin Malaysia's new network partners is UMobile which is known as 3G and 4G organizer in Malaysia. "We had a deal since October 2014 and the delivery platform is expected to done at the end of the first half of 2015," he said.

Furthermore Oki said that until the end of 2014 Telin Malaysia has about 37 thousand registered customers where the active costumer is around 26 thousand.

"We focus on the migration of customers to the new network first, it will be technically more difficult if in the end we gain more customers. Telin Malaysia's revenue is recorded at about 80% -90% which supplied by cellular, while the rest is remittances," he said. (es)
