Tencent invests in 10 Chambers
JAKARTA (IndoTelko) – Tencent acquired a major stake in Swedish game studio 10 Chambers, also known as After Impact AB. The studio was founded in 2015 by nine industry veterans, known for games such as “Payday: The Heist” and “PAYDAY 2”. In December 2019, they launched their first title GTFO in Early Access. GTFO is a co-operative FPS and has already been a huge success.

“As we're closing in on six years of development of GTFO, we've realized that our ambitious long-term vision for our studio will need more muscle. We needed to find a partner that gives us the creative freedom to reach these new heights, while at the same time support our long-term commitment to the GTFO community. For the future of the studio as a whole; it makes it even more exciting” says Ulf Andersson, Creative Director of 10 Chambers.

Right now the studio is working hard on a significant update for GTFO, as part of their “rundown concept”, where the game is regularly updated with new expeditions (i.e. maps, scenarios, enemies, etc.) that replace the previous ones.

“We are thrilled to have Tencent by our side on our continued journey, and are looking forward to expanding our team and take the company to the next level. With the combined skills, network, and resources of both companies, we are planning to make GTFO an even more terrifying experience, as well as embark on new adventures together”, says Oscar J-T Holm, CSO of 10 Chambers.

“Tencent and 10 Chambers share the same passion to create exciting and engaging experiences for our game communities. We are delighted to partner with the creative talents of 10 Chambers and look forward to supporting long-term development of the studio to achieve their vision in the co-op FPS genre”, says Eddie Chan, Vice President of Tencent Games.

Jefferies acted as financial adviser and Bird & Bird as legal adviser to 10 Chambers.(ak)
