Govt: Indosat Has No More Right at 150,5° BT Orbital Slot

JAKARTA (Indotelko) – Indonesia government has declared that they are not giving any extention to Indosat regarding The Utilization Right for Indonesian Satelite Filling.

This statement came from Minister of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia through the letter no. B-297/M.KOMINFO/SP.02.01/03/2014 which have been sent since March 26th, 2014 to Indosat, forwarded to Indonesia Stock Exchange and Financial Services Authority.

The official letter stated that Indosat right over 150,5° BT orbital slot filling is not extended. Eventhough Indosat right over the slot orbit have been pulled out, the company still can use the slot until Palapa C2 operational due date on August 31st, 2015.

In the letter also government said that approval letter for Utilization of Indonesian Satellite Filling at 150,5° BT Orbital slot, no. 460/M.KOMINFO/12/2011 dated 17 December 2011 will not be valid anymore by September 1st, 2015.

Indosat has confirm about this decision made by the government. The company seems not satisfied with the decision and looking for clarification to the government regarding the evaluation.

“In relation to such 26 March letter, we have sent a letter to Ministry of Communication on 27 March 2014 which among other things requested a clarification on Government’s evaluation result on the matters that we could not comply upon that resulting in the issuance of such decision,” President Director and CEO of Indosat, Alexander Rusli through company official letter sent to Chief Executive of Capital Market Supervisory, Financial Services Authority.

According Alexander, Indosat have complied with all the requirements under the prevailing regulations. This decision has affected directly to the company image and value.
