Facebook to Open Representative Office in Indonesia

JAKARTA (Indotelko) - After opening their business in Japan and Hong Kong, Indonesia will become the second house for Facebook in South East Asia.

Facebook has confirmed that they will open a representatives office in Indonesia, which will be located at Pacific Place, Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), Jakarta. This confirmation has been stated by Vice President of Facebook Asia-Pacific, Dan Neary to Vice Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok).

"Facebook is very happy to announced that we will open our representative office here in Indonesia. We came to the city hall to visit the vice governor and delivered the good news," Dan said, after his meeting with Ahok in Jakarta City Hall, yesterday.

Dan said, there are some reasons why Facebook willing to open their office in Indonesia. First one is because Facebook had 65 million users comes from Indonesia with 90% active users. Thats why Indonesia has become the fourth largest of Facebook users.

Beside that, Facebook also have commitment to assist Indonesian SMEs to develop their business using this biggest social networking platform. 

"We will focus on 80% of the unconnected society. Eventhough so many people in Indonesia and the internet is grow fast, but 80% of them still unconnected by the internet. We also have so many chances to cooperate with government and private company," Dan said.(es)
